📦 Orders & delivery
Delivery is a flat CHF 10 anywhere in Switzerland, and free over CHF 150. We ship once a week, usually on a Monday (sometimes a little later in the week), with Planzer: they collect from our coldroom in the late afternoon and deliver the next day. Pick-up is always free, in Lutry or at Racines in Lausanne.
This only affects orders that include tempeh. We make the tempeh fresh at the weekend and to order, and ship once a week, so if you order tempeh on a Saturday or Sunday and we run short on the Monday, that order may wait until the following week. Orders without tempeh go out on the usual weekly run. If you need something by a certain day, or you are heading off on holiday, drop us an email or a WhatsApp and we will do our best to work around it.
Not yet. Living ferments and long customs queues are a bad combination. We ship within Switzerland and Liechtenstein only.
All across Switzerland, usually the first Tuesday after your subscription date. Prefer to pick up? Collect from Racines café (Lausanne) or from us (Lutry).
Almost certainly yes. Everything travels at ambient temperature by design, so just refrigerate it as soon as it lands. In the hot months we ship the tempeh cold with a paper ice pad. If something arrives genuinely warm and spoiled, or leaking, email us a photo within 48 hours and we will replace it.
Yes, and it is free. Choose Pick up at Ragi at checkout, and we will email you when it is ready so you can reply and arrange a time. We are a kitchen and lab rather than a shop, so there are no fixed opening hours. You can also collect from Racines café in Lausanne (Rue Neuve 11, Tuesday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm).
Because everything is perishable living food, an order cannot be returned once it has shipped, and Swiss law does not give a general right of withdrawal for online purchases. But if anything arrives damaged, leaking or clearly not right, we replace or refund it: just email us a photo within 48 hours. For anything else, get in touch.
🌱 Subscriptions
You can subscribe to the Ragi Box (one of everything), or to a single-product Box: Kombucha or Tibicos (six bottles), Kimchi (three jars), or a mixed Drinks Box (twelve bottles). Every subscription saves 10%.
One of each: a seasonal kombucha, a tibicos, a kimchi and a tempeh, plus a recipe card to cook them. It is CHF 25 a box, the best way to try the whole range, and the only subscription that includes tempeh.
The day you receive your box depends on the day you subscribe. Subscribe on the 10th, for example, and you will usually get your first box on the first Tuesday after that, and regularly from then on.
You choose the products, we choose the season's flavour. Because we change every flavour each season and work in small batches, letting everyone pick each one would not work. A made-to-measure Box lets you set the products and quantities; the flavours themselves still follow the season.
Not really. To change the quantities in a made-to-measure subscription, you will need to create a new subscription from scratch and let us know to cancel the previous one. If you are not sure yet, we would suggest trying the products first, or subscribing to the Ragi Box, to get a feel for what you like before building a custom subscription. And if you have any allergies, or there is a flavour you would rather not receive, just write to us and we can change it.
Yes. Order the extra products before your billing date, choose pick up at Ragi as the delivery option, and add a note saying "add to my next box". We will include them in your next delivery at no extra shipping cost.
Any time, with no notice period and no fee. Just send us an email to skip, suspend or cancel, and we will take care of it.
Not at all. Just skip or pause the delivery, by email, and start again whenever you are back. Nothing is lost and nothing is charged while you are paused. Or, if you would rather not miss out, let us know and we can send a double box the following month instead.
Yes, but please tell us by email rather than only changing it in your account. A subscription is an automatic recurring order, so editing the address in your account space does not update it: we have to change it by hand in our delivery system. One quirk of this: your monthly “your order has shipped” email will keep showing the old address even after we have changed it. Don't worry, the Box itself goes to the new one.
Yes, as many as you like. One thing when you set them up: place your subscriptions on their own, separately from any one-off items, in their own order. If you mix subscriptions and individual products in a single checkout, the system splits the subscriptions apart, and from the next month each is charged its own delivery instead of one combined cost. If in doubt, write to us and we will sort it out.
Yes, and it makes a lovely one. Email us how many months you would like to give, and we will set it up with an end date so it stops on its own, with a note to whoever is receiving it. For a one-off gift, the Ragi Box or a discovery box works nicely too.
Yes. Subscriptions save 10% on every box versus buying one by one.
🫙 Products & flavours
Kombucha is fermented sweet tea; tibicos (water kefir) is fermented sweet water, infused with fruit and botanicals. Kombucha leans more on yeasts, tibicos more on bacteria. Both are lightly fizzy, alive, vegan and naturally low in sugar.
Under Swiss law the word kefir is reserved for the milk product, so we are not allowed to call it water kefir on the label. Tibicos is its older name, from Mexico.
Because seasonal produce only tastes good in season. Flowers in spring, pumpkins in autumn: each season gets its own line-up across kombucha and tibicos. Our original kombucha and the two spicy kimchis stay all year; the rest come and go. See the flavour calendar.
No. The bubbles in our kombucha and tibicos are a natural by-product of fermentation, never injected. We do not pasteurise or filter them either, which is why the odd fleck of culture is normal.
That is the magic of living cultures. The Ragis are sensitive to temperature and season, so no two batches behave, or taste, exactly alike.
Savoy cabbage with garlic, ginger and chilli. Our Spicy uses lemon drop pepper for a bright, citrusy heat; the Extra spicy brings in habanero. Both are vegan, with no fish sauce or shrimp. The jar is 250g.
No need to steam it. Because ours is fresh, it does not have the slightly bitter taste that pre-packaged tempeh can have, so you can fry, grill or crumble it straight away. Firm, nutty and high in protein, it is made from Swiss-grown beans (the bean changes with the season). You can also eat it raw, though it is a bit like eating raw mushrooms.
Two kits, one for kombucha and one for tibicos. Each comes with a living culture (a SCOBY, or tibicos grains), plus the sugar, tea or lemon, dried fruit, a jar, a cloth and elastic to cover it, a strainer, and a recipe card with all our tips, so you can brew your own at home.
Everything is 100% vegan, and the kimchi never contains fish sauce or shrimp. Our kombucha, tibicos and tempeh are gluten-free and lactose-free. The one exception is kimchi, which contains miso: our suppliers test every batch for gluten and it comes back negative every time, but because of the risk of cross-contamination they cannot guarantee it is 100% gluten-free.
A trace. Because we never pasteurise, our drinks carry roughly 0.5 to 1.2% alcohol, produced naturally by fermentation, less than a ripe banana or a glass of orange juice.
Because they are unpasteurised, we would advise against our drinks and kimchi during pregnancy. Tempeh is fine once it is cooked through. When in doubt, check with your midwife or doctor.
The honest version: a diverse gut is a healthy gut, and eating a range of different live ferments is one of the nicest ways to feed it. That is exactly why we make several rather than one. Our drinks are also far lower in sugar than soft drinks. Beyond that, we will let the research, and your own gut, do the talking. ✨
❄️ Storage & safety
Kombucha & tibicos: fridge, up to 1 year sealed and about 5 days once opened. Kimchi: fridge, up to 2 years sealed and about a month once opened (wipe the rim of the jar clean each time). Tempeh: fridge for 10 days, or freeze up to 1 year.
Not at all. That is cellulose made by the culture, a little piece of SCOBY. It is completely safe and a sign the bottle was never pasteurised. Do not shake it, and open it slowly.
Perfectly normal. Those are spores of Rhizopus, the noble mould, beginning to sporulate. In parts of Indonesia tempeh is deliberately ripened this way for a deeper flavour.
Because pasteurising kills the living cultures, and in tempeh it adds a bitter edge. Ours stays alive; the trade-off is a shorter shelf life and keeping everything cold.

Visits, wholesale & the rest
In an old cellar we turned into a kitchen and lab, in Lutry, above Lutry, in the canton of Vaud. It is a working space rather than a shop, so visits are by arrangement.
Workshops are coming. We are planning hands-on sessions in kimchi and fermented drinks, though nothing is on the calendar just yet. Leave your details and you will be the first to know. You are always welcome to arrange a pick-up in Lutry in the meantime.
No deposit. We simply reuse the bottles and jars you bring back: rinsed, cleaned professionally, and refilled.
Please do. Rinse them and bring them back, we have them cleaned professionally in Lausanne and use them again. Drop them with us in Lutry, at Racines in Lausanne, or at any Kiss the Ground. It is only possible in Romandie for the moment. More on our recycling page.
Our DIY kits come with a living culture, a SCOBY for kombucha or grains for tibicos, plus everything else you need to brew at home.
We would love that. Email hello@ragi.ch and we will send our wholesale sheet and current seasonal availability. We look after every account ourselves, so you'll always be talking to one of us.
